Where are all the dedicated musicians that have talent

trailofdead 3 Aug 2005 15:49

Ok I for the moment I'm looking for a drummer & a bass player.
I'm looking to set this band up so it has a chance at making music for a living, why because music is my passion.
I'm looking for people who can jam twice a week, prepared to tour interstate, prepared to take time off work, uni etc..to tour.
Music I like ...trail of dead, Nirvana, At the Drive In, the Beatles, Faith No More, Led Zeppelin.
I need a hard hitting drummer who can play various rhythms & styles think Dave Grohl, John Bonham, You need to play with passion!
In a bass player I need someone who can write their own bass lines & is a strong bassist. Notes are hit well & a understanding of scales would be great. Also stage presents like At the Drive In would be great as well.
Also looking for people around my age 21. 18-24 is preferred.
If anyone also knows of any bands that have broken up that I could get members from let me know. That would be appreciated.
Cheers Aaron

Dude, I know Ringo and Paul are free these days, but they might be a bit too old for what you are looking for. :)

Keep on mate, good to see enthusiasm.

Dedicated musicians with talent are usually in bands already - you'll have to make do with lazy talentless hacks, at least until they improve or you can pilfer some from another band!</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Yeah, dedication seems to be the problem. I found a couple of people that had the talent, but wouldn't jam twice a week or once a week, couldn't tour, & wanted to do more projects. Unfocused energy in mind.
If anyone knows of any bands that have broken up or if you're unhappy with the dedication of your band & want to make a living out of playing in a band drop me a line at aaron.pte@bigpond.com.au</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Dude, maybe you should dedicate yourself to responding to emails. Seriously man music is my passion to0, but 99% of people have got another side project, its called life. Youve got to be able to juggle the two cos its only going to get harder for musos as the next generation dosnt want to pay for their music. </title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

99% of the time I answer emails. Of late I've just been reading them & if I feel they're not what I'm looking for I don't reply.
I used to reply to everyone, but I'm sick of abusive emails because I won't let people try out if they don't want to tour & put the hard work in. I've tried out so many people & it takes up so much time, so I just go for the ones who I think might be what I'm looking for. It's always difficult.
Sorry if I have offered you.
You're right, life & music is a hard balance. It is not uncommon for a touring band to play between 100 - 300 shows a year.
The last time I went on tour half of my band lost their jobs, not to mention having no $ because music eats a whole in your wallet. Touring causes all sorts of problems in your life & it's fair enough if people don't want to make sacrifices for it. I'm prepared to make sacrifices to do what I love & I know I've got hard times ahead. That's life & that's the risk I'm taking.

Hey man I can understand your frustration, you sound like my kind of guy. I had to start a band again from scratch this year and it took me bout 6 months to find the right kind of people. The sacrifice I had to make was that no-one seemed to be as dedicated as what I think that I am. I would jam five nights a week if the others would want to, but its not going to happen. Im really interested in hearing any of your stuff if you have any demos too. Im playing my first gig at the Soak Bar on Smith st. next Friday 12th at bout 10:30 if your interested. Could be right up your alley</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

The thing is 85% of people that I have tried out don't realize the hard work or the sacrifices needed to make a career out of this. It's just not realistic to play in 2 or 3 other projects, tour, work full, & do other social activities every night. I'm not looking to jam once a fortnight & play a gig once a month on a Wednesday. There's no certainty in the music industry, but if you have the drive, & willingness to make sacrifices it improves you chances of success dramatically at making a living out this. That's what I need in my follow band members to understand.
Anyway if anyone has the time & talent drop me an email at aaron.pte@bigpond.com.au Cheers Az</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Hey Aaron, yeah it's a long hard fuckin trip to get that line up right. The players are out there, only took me 5 years to find mine.

Cheers Gov. Yep almost been a year for me already. Auditioned over 50 people so far! If anyone out there who thinks they're up for playing in a touring band drop me a line.
Or if anyone knows of good bands that have broken up lately that I could get members from let me know. That would be much appreciated.
