The Jet Set and why Im still smiling

saffron 16 Aug 2003 11:41

If anyone was there on Thursday night, they would have seen a wonderful band with great energy and a revealing of the promise so many bands offer but rarely deliver. The Jet Set delivered.
I made the call months ago when I saw them at the Empress and said these guys will go on to do something wonderful and I will be proven correct..watch this space.
Simply put they are getting better and better.
I defy any one to pigeon hole their sound.
It has elements from many genres but nothing you can really put your finger on, it's very much their own sound.
Shades of The Cure, shades of Arthur Lee, hints of New Romantisisms,a dash of New Wave guitar heroics all served with a pop guitar attack that could warm the coldest of cynical souls.
They simply make you break out into a smile, and that's no mean feat.
I can understand the Bowie comparison but I think that's too lazy a comparison.

Thursday night at the Espy was cold and raining, but inside the Espy the Gershwin room was warm and buzzing.
The Jet Set made the impact.
The Singer is a man possessed, the guitarist plays a style refreshingly different and textured, the drummer plays a style that reminds me of 'Love', subtle yet quick, add analogue-ish keyboard runs and you got The Jet Set.

But it's the songs that make the real impact. Catchy yet intricate without being too commercial...I was humming a few of them the next morning and that is always the real test for me.

They've brought something new to the Music scene and upped the ante', I predict many bands who see The Jet Set will re-evaluate exacly what required to get the audiences attention.

Good luck guys.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Can't say I hear the bowie comparison myself.
Their songs are pretty cool though, look forward to hearing more.

I've seen The Jet Set twice now, first time they were a bit shambolic,
Second time they were brilliant.
That's the way it goes I guess.

Lovely guys though.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>
