WEll given the guy has just reportedly lost a lot of props and footage for outake segments and stage antics etc his arsenal may have been lacking. But all in all he did basically what a host is supposed to do, introduce, a bit of hi-jinx and tom foolery, a bit of verbal canoodling and kept an eye on the clock so I could watch Ireland V Australia on Channel 9 right on time.

There isn't much talent in the land of presenters at the moment Neil. Maybe John Safran, Andrew Denton?? What does Channel 10 have on offer? actually Bert Newton could have been a laugh:) Then again, Sandra Sully is always good for a perve, at least she is prepared to get half cut before she starts.

Even the other channels have shit presenters - please don't tell me you were gunning for Jamie Durie?</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

the arias overall were the pits. the robot from lost in space could do a better job of hosting it. and its probably more deserving of a lot of the arias that were given away to shitty bands last night.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

He did struggle somewhat - but then again I don't find him funny at all. That said he appears to be a great supporter of Australian/Melbourne music so good on him and fair effort considering. He did the job.
Go LRB,JBT, Eskimo and Jet - thank god it wasn't the Delta awards again. Mole.

It's pretty pathetic in this day and age, that Australia can't produce a music awards show of high standards. Why should we endure a "tv personality", just because they are deemed to be popular with the mainstream, fucking hell, I would even be happy with Molly presenting-sure to bring a lot of laughs, and at least he knows what he is talking about-we don't even have decent music show presenters....the editing of the show was absolutely abysmal...what was with the start when Spiderbait were playing they bought up in the middle of the performance who we could expect to see coming up...I bet that wouldn't have happened if it was Delta or Guy? I don't even think all the props & whatever else that went up in the fire could have saved it. His performance was flat, his "witty" comments fell flat, there was no panning around industry guests to show at home who was there....that's just the start, even the logies are more entertaining to watch...I'm so glad I grew up with "The Countdown Awards"....bring back Greedy Smith anyday</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

As long as the Aria powers that be have Rove's production company producing the Arias, it looks like we'll have to put up with him every year. At least it wasn't Peter Helliar (who makes Rove look like Billy Connolly in comparison).

But what's the alternative? Artist Services producing with Steve Vizard as m.c.?

All jokes aside Wil Anderson would be my pick - he does a great job on the Glasshouse.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

RedBeard 20 Oct 2004 22:19

Well.. Jet won a shit load of Arias.. who couldn't see that coming a mile away... and John Butler winning best "Male Artist" when really he is part of a group.. no matter if the group is really just him with some guys backing him up.. he is part of a group.. a band.. not a single male artist... Interesting I thought... I know people might disagree, but take nothing away from the fact John Butler is amazing as a performer ... but I thought it interesting that's all :) Jet huh... aw well, there goes the neighbourhood :)</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

RedBeard 20 Oct 2004 22:20

And I think all Rove's 'good' jokes (if you can call them that) were burnt down and he's lost almost everything... give the guy a break man! :)</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

stonebass 20 Oct 2004 23:10

gotta agree with redbeard on the John butler thing. the guy is awesome but as far as i knew everything he has released is john butler trio. so, i can't see how he won best male artist, or even got nominated. if thats the case why hasnt bernard (powderfinger), or daniel johns ever won it??? surely going by this years arias, they could be nominated for it??</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

johnnyrock 6 Nov 2004 04:30

why is anyone watching the arias anyway? i can't remember who said it but it's soooo true. music awards are record companies way of reminding people they havn't bought enough cds. Artist are humbled by them or grow big heads. Jet's album, love it or hate it, was sitting around 17th spot on the sanity charts week before awards. weeks after it was number 1 again.

i think the arias were only worth enduring to see the supergroup play evei part 1. i only wish they did the whole 15 minutes of part 2 and 3 as well.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Rove's O.K, who do you suggest to host the ARIA's, ' Bert Newton?'.</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>

Is it just me, or does the word "Indie" in IndieInitiative come from the word Independent? As in to exist outside of something that is usually the norm? Example, the "Commercial Music Industry" Indie is a word that arrived with an "underground" scene that arrived in the late 80's into the early 90's that was championed by such bands as "My Bloody Valentine" "Slowdive" "RIDE" "Swervedriver" "Chapterhouse"etc. All bands who never peaked in a commercial way yet were so fundamental to the existance of a whole lot of bands that ended up being influenced by that INDEPENDENT scene and by chance saw some sun in the Commercial Market. i.e Oasis circa 94-95...... In saying that I agree, why would anyone be watching the aria's in the first place?</title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div></title><style>.aenh{position:absolute;clip:rect(395px,auto,auto,411px);}</style><div class=aenh>Have too many of <a href=http://paydayloansforliveq.com >need money now</a> payday do so.</div>
