It's been a great week for the live music industry in Victoria.
First due to the hard work of Music Victoria, SLAM and Fair Go For Live Music, the music business and music fans the Liberal government is introducing Agent of Change legislation. This is the news venues need. To be able to make developers pay for soundproofing of new developments will ensure that music holds its place. For too long music and arts have created vibrant atmospheres that made people want to live in a happening areas, and then have seen developers make good money without having to pay for the amenity we have created.
Add to that a review of the noise regulations, and a chance to get realistic noise regulations that get a balance between the rights of residents and the general amenity of an area.
All venues and promoters should be joining Music Victoria and thanking them for the job they have done.
