Promoters keep lamenting that people don't go out to enough events. If the event doesn't work, either its the venue fault for not promoting the show properly, or its the wrong night.
Music is usually the ultimate capitalist business. You live and die on your popularity or your promotion. Or maybe either the venue has created a space where people like going to, or the promoter has created an event or a reputation that punters trust.
Big festivals have been struggling over the last couple of years. You have to say that punters have said to the promoters, we don't like your offer enough to buy tickets. We used to love it but we've changed, or you don't understand what we really want.
